Senior Portraits near Cumberland, MD | Erin

Helpful, compassionate, and sincere. Three words used to describe this lovely 2021 senior attending Mountain Ridge. In my brief experience and time capturing such a momentous occasion in her life, I would definitely have to agree with those three words!

Our session began along Evitts Creek. Erin wanted some water shots without actually submerging herself in the water.

Cumberland-maryland-senior-photography_Erin+Derham (6).jpg

I love when clients want to get a little daring! Though she didn’t go into the water herself, I was able to strategically pose her on a rock above water level to give her the senior experience she wanted!

Erin plans on attending ACM for her general classes but wants to transfer out of state in the future. Her primary focus of study will be environmental science! It seems fitting with such a compassionate heart!

After cooling off in the water on the hot summer day, we made our way to a field where I brought my Egg Chair to get some unique shots! I mean, you saw them right?! How whimsical is that look!

Keep an open mind when new opportunities arise.
— Julie Derham

Julie adores her daughter Erin and her favorite memories of her child are when they cook and bake new recipes in the kitchen! A little mother daughter bonding experience, isn’t that so cute?!

In the cold months (fall + winter), adding layers to your outfits always looks STUNNING in portraits! A sweater with a flannel underneath paired with a vest + statement necklace or scarf adds so much dimension to your images and makes for super fun posing options! Even in the warmer months (spring + summer) you can add these layers

Erin was so much fun and was so willing to try different poses.  I love how her photos turned out!

Congratulations, Erin, Class of 2021!

Cumberland Maryland Senior Portraits | Nathan

Nathan is a senior at Frankfort High School. During out session, he seemed at ease with the company of the outdoors and I lucked out and got a smile or two in his portraits! (Trust me parents, I’ll make your kids smile and laugh!)

After high school, Nathan has no plans to immediately go to college but he will be joining the Marines! I think that is incredibly admirable and I wish him all the best in his future endeavors!

When Nathan was 5 years old, his dream was to be an FBI Agent when he grew up. He could still be an FBI Agent if he wanted too; I have no doubt that he is more than capable of succeeding in whatever he decides to do after the Marines!

Nathan also played football for six years!

cumberland_maryland_senior_portraits_NathanOrtt_0010.jpg

Trying to get this Frankfort High senior to open up was a bit of a challenge, but I found out that he loves to hunt, fish, and work outside in the yard - which explains why his favorite part of his senior session was the different views of nature!

Although no parent can choose just one favorite memory of their child, Jennifer said that when Nathan was about 18 months old, he would be standing in the kitchen on a chair washing dishes next to her. He always had to be close to her! I think that is absolutely adorable and their bond is amazing.

One of the things I love most about my senior sessions is getting even the quiet shy types to open up to me. This is my passion and being able to connect with my clients is important to me!

Cumberland, Maryland Senior Portraits | Chloe

Chloe’s session was absolutely perfect! She is so stunning and we had an amazing day with beautiful light and scenery! This sweet, kind, and gorgeous senior is excited to be graduating in May 2021.

cumberland-maryland-senior-photography_Chloe+Robison_0003.jpg

We started our session in Goldenrod Field. I usually coordinate with my clients about what to wear but Chloe did such an amazing job picking her outfits!

On her way to Frostburg State University to study veterinary medicine, this 2021 senior will be graduating from Mountain Ridge High School in May!

Just LOOK at that backlight among those golden fields! Absolutely breathtaking!

cumberland-maryland-senior-photography_Chloe+Robison_0011.jpg

While I got to know Chloe, I also got to know her mother and during that time I learned that her favorite memory of Chloe is her first trip to the beach and how much she loved the ocean and playing in the sand. She may have been little but she never wanted to leave the beach and took her naps lounging under the beach umbrella! I love that!

As if you couldn’t tell from our session so far, Chloe is an outdoorsy girl always ready for an adventure! And not only that, she loves to do makeup and hair or go shopping; but most of all Chloe loves hanging out with her friends and family! Isn’t she just the cutest?

Despite the excitement of graduating, it has been a hard year not having interactions with her friends. Not only that but Chloe couldn’t attend school functions and missed having face to face experiences with her teachers. When things return to normal, she’s very much looking forward to spending time her friends and being able to participate in an actual classroom. I can honestly say, we all can’t wait to get back to normal, Chloe!

Our second location took place in Evitts Creek and let me tell you what, I was so excited when she said she’d be willing to get in the water! I love when clients trust my direction and my eye for creativity!

Always be true to yourself and never give up on all that you hope to achieve and desire in your lifetime.
— Lisa Robison

We had such a great time during Chloe’s session. She was able to express herself and the perfect day with the perfect scenery just added to the beauty of this momentous occasion.

It is important to me as a senior portrait photographer to get to know my clients and help them relax during their session with me. I’m glad I was able to make Chloe feel at ease during her time with me and I can’t wait to hear about the grand things she does in the future! Congratulations, Chloe, Class of 2021!

Madison / Senior Portraits in Cumberland, MD

Madison is a natural beauty! She wanted a very natural setting and shoot with minimal makeup. She was amazing in front of the camera… it was like she was a trained model!

Madison is a senior graduating from Fort Hills High School in 2021. After high school, she plans on taking the year off to travel the states before attending college in Fall 2023. I think that’s just amazing! And she wants to major in biology; a gap year before diving head first into a difficult subject sounds like a grand plan to me!

I generally give lots of directions for posing but not for this girl. Her session started in a beautiful goldenrod field! We used the Egg Chair for a few of the shots and OF COURSE we got lots of her with Ava, her gorgeous dog!

cumberland-maryland-senior-photography_Madison+Hollis_0012.jpg

This beauty loves to play volleyball and she’s been playing for the past 5 years. For the past 7 years, she’s been playing basketball.

In her free time, Madison loves drawing or spending time with her friends, though Covid has certainly altered her year a lot. She looks forward to regaining a normal scheduled day and longs for a time when school is school and she’s able to hang out with friends.

Our second location was at at Evitts creek. It was a little cool but that didn’t stop her from getting into the water! Although you’ve seen previous sessions of models in water, Madison was my first and instantly got me obsessed with these sessions!

Follow your heart! Do what makes you happy!
— Stefanie Logsdon

Personally she did not enjoy virtual learning and found it nearly impossible to focus.

All my senior portrait sessions take place at two or three locations to give lots of variety. I also encourage seniors to bring along at least five outfits with lots of accessories. Know a 2022 senior looking for a portrait photographer? Tell them my name and send them my way!

Western Maryland Senior Portraits | Sadie

cumberland-maryland-senior-photography_sadie+kowalski_0002.jpg

This spunky 2021 senior is Sadie from Fort Hill High School. She’s headed to college when she graduates with the dream to study pre-law with a minor in either political science or sociology.

I can tell you one thing just from my experience with Sadie is that she’ll succeed at anything she puts her mind too!

cumberland-maryland-senior-photography_sadie+kowalski_0001.jpg

(Side Note: I love a good black and white! Which is your favorite?)

cumberland-maryland-senior-photography_sadie+kowalski_0006.jpg
When Sadie was learning to talk she would say everything. On the commute to her babysitter every morning in Baltimore her dad would coach her on saying the starting line up of the Pittsburg Steelers. She was the only two year old I knew who could say Troy Polamalu and Kimo von Oelhoffen!
— Sadie's parents on their favorite memory of her
cumberland-maryland-senior-photography_sadie+kowalski_0007.jpg

Sadie has a myriad of interests, hobbies, and talents starting with soccer. She’s played for 13 years for club teams, travel teams, and school teams. Not only is she awesome at sports, but she’s a percussionist, snare drummer, and keyboardist for her high schools band.

cumberland-maryland-senior-photography_sadie+kowalski_0008.jpg

Outside of school interests, Sadie loves hiking, geocaching, long boarding, and relaxing in a hammock. She also loved spending time with her friends, playing guitar, and video gaming. She’s certainly a Jack(lyn) of all trades!

We certainly had a blast wandering from location to location to capture the best for Sadie. That’s the fun of senior portraits: feeling comfortable and confident!

Continue to be the woman we have raised you to be-strong, compassionate, persisting through adversity, and always looking for ways to serve those around you.
— Cresta & Mark Kowalski

Although COVID impacted her senior year, Sadie has managed to learn how to navigate the social distancing waters but she looks forward to being with a crowd of friends when we return back to normal times!

cumberland-maryland-senior-photography_sadie+kowalski_0019.jpg

I had an absolute pleasure of a time getting to know Sadie and her parents! I can’t wait to see what she does in the future!

Senior Portraits near Cumberland, MD | Emily

Meet Emily, one of my 2021 Senior Model Team Members! Her smile and positive attitude made her a perfect member of the KMP Model Team! Below, you will see images from our Model Team Shoots and also her senior photos.

This stunning beauty is graduating from Bishop Walsh in the class of 2021 and she’s extremely excited to be done with high school. We began her first session at Swallow Falls in Garrett County! It was an amazing afternoon photographing her by the waterfalls!

Emily was such a dear to work with and I absolutely adored capturing this momentous occasion in her life!

These images were from our headshot session to introduce her to the KMP audience as one of my Model Team Members.

This graduating senior plans on heading to the big city after she’s done with schooling, but for now she’s planning on attending Mount St. Mary’s, where she will go to school for nursing. It takes a special kind of person to care for the sick, especially in these times.

cumberland-maryland-senior-photography_emily+eisenhauer_0005.jpg

Although nursing is her new pursuit, when she was 5, Emily wanted to be a ballerina. I think she could still be a ballerina if she wanted! She’s definitely whimsical enough!

This is Emily’s Moms favorite photo from the session!

cumberland-maryland-senior-photography_emily+eisenhauer_0010.jpg

Although this kind, compassionate, and caring human being is able to roll with the punches, she missed being able to enjoy her senior year. Covid impacted her senior retreat, homecoming, and cheerleading - three things she definitely wishes could have happened. Virtual learning is also another impact on Emily’s life and though she doesn’t hate it, it isn’t her favorite!

Getting to work with Emily and her parents was a treat; and listening to her parents talk about a favorite moment of theirs in her childhood melted my heart. When Emily was crawling and just learning to get into things, she had gotten into their cabinet and opened a whole box of Apple Jacks cereal, dumping it on the floor. It ended with little Emily sitting there laughing and eating them off of the floor! I love this memory that they have of their daughter and even though this senior is headed away from home for college, she still has plenty of memories to make with her parents!

Part 2 of Emily’s Senior Session took place at Sang Hill Farms in Garrett County. Emily loves sunflowers and wanted to have them part of her senior photo shoot! Sang Hill Farms not only has Sunflowers but they have an amazing field of zinnias!

Never give up on your dreams.

Downtown Cumberland, MD Senior Portraits | Gregory

As a Cumberland, Maryland photographer, I know all the great spots and locations to capture the moments that make up your family’s life! Especially seniors. These are important milestones that not only you, the parents want to remember, but that your child will want to remember as they get older and look back on life!

If you ask a parent what they’re favorite thing about their child is, chances are they are going to say everything! But I love when parents are open and honest about the one particular aspect of their graduating senior that they love the most. For Sarah and Larry Jackson, it’s Gregory’s intensity with his interests. Gregory always works hard to find out everything he possibly can about things he is interested in!

cumberland_maryland_senior_portraits_GregoryJackson_0009.jpg

Gregory graduates from Allegany High School in May of this year, and I know he is excited. He plans to attend University of Maryland for Computer Science.

Although Computer Science wasn’t always his goal…. when he was five years old, he had a dream to be an architect when he grew up!

cumberland_maryland_senior_portraits_GregoryJackson_0018.jpg

This high school senior has been playing the trumpet for nine years in band. That’s pretty impressive! He brought along his trumpet to incorporate into his senior portrait session and to be honest, I love when clients do that! Locations and people can make great photos but if you throw in a little bit of you into the mix, it’s going to be an amazing session!

Work hard and follow your dreams.
— Sarah & Larry Jackson

Gregory loved his senior session and his favorite part was being able to make the choices of where to go to document his 2020 year. When he wasn’t sure of where all to go, I had some suggestions and he enjoyed the great scenery. We had a blast during his senior portrait session in Downtown Cumberland, Maryland, but these open field shots are some of my favorites!

Love this spot for senior photos! Generally you can see the beautiful mountains of western Maryland in the background, but I really like the fog for something different.
Thank you Sarah, Gregory and Larry for choosing me as your senior photographer! Best wishes Gregory!
